About Brexit.Trade

The Trade Gateways Network is operated by Local Merchant Services, (LMS) in co-operation with significant partners. LMS have been providing Digital Trade Services since 2017. Services are centrally provided to Trade Gateways in the Network in a partnership with IBM. Brexit.Trade is part of the TRADE GATEWAYS Programme.

International Trade provides many challenges. Recently, one shipment of avocados into the EU entailed more than 200 communications involving 30 parties, resulting in the costs to process trade documents made up as much as 20 percent of the logistics costs. Brexit.Trade can help streamline these processes, eliminate blind spots, delays and manual labor in cross border trade.

The Brexit.Trade Programme Features around 138 Digital Trade Gateways for the UK, the EU, and countries the UK has a Trade Deal with. This provides the ability to remove many of the challenges in a facilitated manner from one single point. These Trade Gateways detailed below.

Benefits of Brexit.Trade

UK exports have fallen since Brexit - in part due to the form-filling that's now required for access to the European Single Market. Brexit.Trade facilitates capturing all necessary data about a container for the importing nation’s customs officials before it even leaves its country of origin.

Brexit has provided an administrative headache that has grown increasingly painful for UK exporters since Brexit. At Brexit.Trade, users can use End To End Logistics from relevant Digital Trade Gateways as detailed to help overcome problems posed by Brexit

Furthermore, each Trade Gateway in the Brexit.Trade Programme is a branded Trade signpost to Trade Products and Services relevant to the Geographic location of the trade gateway, and delivered in co-operation with major partners including TradeKey, who operate B2B Marketplaces globally, with over 10 million users. Each Trade Gateway features at least 1 B2B Marketplace relevant to its Geographic Location

Digital Trade Features

The parties utilizing a Brexit.Trade Digital Trade Gateway for a transaction, agree an equivalence between control of an electronic transferrable record and possession of a transferrable paper document or instrument. The reaching of such an agreement within a closed Trading Group, validates the use of an electronic transferrable record, thereby helping to pave the way for MLETR across the Trade Gateways.

IBM are also a Local Merchant Services Programme Partner. IBM are an industry Leader and can provide Digital Trade Services to users.

Additional to the help that can be provided through our partners, the features of the Brexit.Trade Programme as detailed below can be of great help to users.

The significance of the Brexit.Trade network:

  • Rather like the analogy of the ports or airports network. Each Digital Trade Gateway in the has the infrastructure to get you from point A to point B, and address many of the challenges of Post Brexit Trade. The wider the network, the more places you can get to.
  • The interoperability of the system with other platforms

  • Significance of Brexit.Trade

For many UK companies, the EU is still where the majority of their sales take place. Some companies grew and expanded thanks to access to the EU market. Successful UK businesses can have a relatively low percentage of domestic sales and for those companies maintaining and continuing to grow their EU sales is still important.

Post Brexit Trade can be an administrative nightmare. All in all, it is proving too much for many small operators. Brexit.Trade can help, both with finding buyers and sellers and facilitate transaction administration and processing.

We have over 2 million subscribers across our sites network. Users of Brexit.Trade can find buyers and Sellers through Tradekey B2B Marketplaces featured on relevant Digital Trade Gateways in the Programme. These are Digital Trade Gateways for the UK, for EU countries, and for countries with which the UK has a Post Brexit Trade deal. Users can use End To End Logistics from relevant Digital Trade Gateways as detailed to help overcome problems posed by Brexit

Trade Compliance: Post Brexit Cross Border Trade is a complex world of rules, tariffs, duties, and taxes. Our Logistics Partners can be of great help.

Trade compliance is the umbrella term for adherence to the regulations in place between any two countries when importing or exporting goods.

This can include duties, taxes, risk determination, classification, and more. Not paying the correct amount of duties can result in large fines from the government and delays at ports of entry. It is important to determine the current specific duty rates from all possible government agencies, and our Logistics Partners do just that, as well as provide the services detailed below.

Additional Tariffs – Once products are properly classified, our Logistics Partners will determine whether they are subject to additional tariffs.

Free Trade Agreements - FTAs can change or be halted, resulting in unexpected changes. Our Logistics Partners alert TRADE GATEWAYS users to any unnecessary duties they may be paying.

Partner Government Agencies - Our Logistics Partners are able to determine if products are subject to any PGAs.

Intellectual Property Rights Confirmation - Our Logistics Partners will ensure goods comply with IPR guidelines.
